Sparrow 25 Sewing Machine: The Details
The body of the Sparrow 25 matches its spirit: it feels playful and fun.
A lot of machines stick with a white or beige aesthetic, but we like that this one mixes it up with deep red accents and a lovely logo on the front.
Though the machine can do a lot, it is not bulky or heavy. At around 13 pounds, it’s easy to pick it up and move it to wherever you want to sew. That’s one thing that’s easy to love about Eversewn machines: their metal frames make them a great lightweight option.
It also doesn’t feel so light that it seems breakable. It still feels sturdy.

Eversewn: The Company
Eversewn is a newer name to the sewing market. A lot of the machines on the market seem to stick with the ‘old ways’ but Eversewn seems to be striving toward making sewing machines that are more stylish and trendy.
Though they are a newer company, they are working with companies like Crown Technics and Brewer Sewing, both of which have established reputations in the sewing industry. Crown Technics has a part in their design process and Brewer helps to provide warranty services.
Crown Technics has been designing sewing machines for more than 20 years in the European market, and Brewery Quilting and Sewing has been a staple in sewing since 1914.
Even though they are just starting out, Eversewn seems to have a lot of good backing and great partners who are aiming to innovate the sewing industry and the sewer’s experience.
We’re interested to see more from them over the next few years.
As we mentioned above, the warranty for EverSewn machines is provided by Brewer. They provide the following services for all Eversewn machines:
- Labor: 1 year
- Electrical parts: 1 year
- Mechanical parts: 10 years
Don’t forget to validate your warranty! To activate your warranty, you will need to fill out the card that comes with the machine or register your machine on the company’s website, within 30 days of your purchase.
We think it’s probably fair to say that the Sparrow 25 sewing machine is best suited to a more experienced sewer, who needs a machine that can go the distance with more complex design projects, as well as dabble in more decorative functions, like quilting and embroidery.
One of our favorite features about the Sparrow 25 is the remarkable number of in-built stitches. All 197 of them!
It’s super easy to customize and personalize whatever you are sewing with this machine. Thinking about making a new shirt for your kiddo? It’s really simple to stitch their name into the bottom of that project or add a fun and fancy hem to make it more cute and trendy.
The stitch selection is made up of the following:
- 14 utility stitches (including stretch stitches)
- 58 decorative stitches
- 18 quilting stitches
- 2 darning stitches
There’s also an automatic stitch securing button which comes in very handy too.
Twin Needle Capability & 15 Needle Positions
Further cementing that this Eversewn sewing machine is great for garment making and clothing design is the twin needle function.
This allows you to create gorgeous and secure hems and sleeves, and we also like using it for embroidery work too.
There are also 15 needle positions available, for you to sew exactly where you want on your fabric.
Needle Up/Down Function
The needle up/down function allows you to choose whether to have your needle up or down during breaks in sewing, which gives a lot of freedom of movement and creative control.
There’s also the option of dropping the feed dogs — particularly useful during quilting.
Automatic Needle Threader
While we’d argue that, on the whole, the Sparrow 25 by Eversewn is best suited to more experienced sewers, we love the brilliant automatic needle threader on the machine.
It just makes it much more accessible and easy to use, and allows you to get started quickly on your projects.
If you need any further guidance on how to thread the Sparrow 25, check out this how-to video:
As well as an easy to use stop/start button, the Sparrow 25 has sliding speed control on the front of the machine. If you prefer the traditional ways, there’s also the option of using the electric foot control instead.
We found the speed control easy to master and relished the opportunity to adjust our sewing speed for more complex and intricate work.
Sparrow 25 Sewing Machine Review
Sews Exceptionally Well
Arguably the most important measure of a sewing machine’s worth is how well it actually sews.
We’re pleased to report that the Sparrow 25 is a cracking little machine that reliably produces perfect stitching, whatever project you’re working on.
As other Sparrow 25 sewing machine reviews point out, the stitching quality is definitely comparable to similarly priced premium machines, and almost surprising from such an underrated brand.
It’s Easy to Use
While we probably wouldn’t recommend this machine to sewing beginners, there’s no doubt that — if you already know your sewing basics and how to make your way around a machine — you’ll find the Eversewn Sparrow 25 easy to get a handle on.
There are a few features that make it so:
- Automatic needle threader
- Stop/start button
- Speed control
- Needle up/down button
For people who sometimes struggle to get into a good rhythm with foot control, these simple shortcuts offer a level of control and mastery over your machine that would otherwise take years of practice.
Optional Foot Control
Having said that, you also have the option of controlling the Sparrow 25 using electronic foot control if you so desire.
This is a great way to appeal to the more traditional and experienced sewing crowd, as well as offering a more accessible option for people less confident with multi-tasking!
Good for Small Quilting Projects
While the Sparrow 25 sewing machine is a little on the small side to take on huge quilting projects — the throat space is only around 6.5 inches — it’s perfectly equipped for smaller designs.
You can lower the feed dogs easily and the needle up/down function is very useful for allowing you some extra space to handle and manipulate your fabric.
Leading on from the fact that the Sparrow 25 is good for small scale quilting projects is how it can dabble in most sewing projects.
Here are a few of the things we’ve tested it on:
- General sewing
- Clothes making and alterations
Lightweight and Portable
One of the best things about this Eversewn sewing machine is how brilliantly portable it is.
When you’re travelling or attending a sewing workshop, there’s nothing worse than carting around a huge, heavy weight machine around with you. Or worse, having to leave your good sewing machine at home and using a less than great lightweight one instead.
But at only 13 pounds, the Sparrow 25 is the perfect travel sewing accompaniment. It’s lightweight, while still able to take on most of what your heavier, premium machine can do.
Truth be told, many of our sewing friends have bought the Sparrow 25 solely for attending workshops and travelling with it, only to be totally bowled over by what it can do.
Other Things We Love:
- The pop-out accessory drawer
- The huge number of stitches
- The bright LCD screen
While the Sparrow 25 sewing machine has a lot going for it, there are definitely a few things to consider before you buy.
Not Really Suitable for Beginners
We’ve seen a few reviews state that the Sparrow 25 by Eversewn is a great machine for beginners, but we’d have to politely disagree.
While it’s definitely a user-friendly machine, it can be overwhelming for inexperienced sewers.
Most beginners will have no need for 197 stitches, let alone the various features that assist quilting and clothes making.
If you’re looking for the best sewing machine for beginners, check out this guide instead, which is full of the most beginner-friendly machines that won’t break the bank.
Quilting Accessories Not Included
You get a fair number of included feet when you buy this sewing machine, but it does not come with quilting accessories. That can be a little disappointing, since this machine is really good with small quilting projects.
You can purchase a quilting foot accessories kit if you are interested in quilting, and there are also other accessories like a cording foot, hemmer foot, or walking foot which can be bought as well.
Manual Thread Cutter and Tension Control
While there are a lot of features designed to make sewing easier and more efficient with the Sparrow 25, sadly thread cutting and tension control are not two of them. There are a lot of features that make sewing a breeze, but sadly, this is not one of them.
There’s a manual thread cutter on the side of the machine, and upper thread tension adjustable on its top.
Other Small Features That Could Be Improved
- It could have a larger throat size. It’s only about 6.5” inches from the needle
- More tutorials/video lessons. Eversewn provides some basic tutorials and pictures of projects on their website, but more info is always helpful
Overall, it’s an easy choice for us to recommend the Sparrow 25 sewing machine.
We think intermediate and advanced sewers will get the most out of it — while there’s not exactly a steep learning curve, there’s perhaps a little too much going on for beginners.
It’s versatile, sews beautifully and the overall quality is reminiscent of more expensive and famous machines than it’s price would suggest. Though it’s by no means cheap, it shares a lot of features with machines that cost a lot more.
Small and lightweight, it offers great portability but consequently isn’t quite heavy duty enough for large quilting projects or particularly thick fabrics. Smaller projects, however, will find their home right here with the Sparrow 25.
As long as you know what you are looking for and know that this machine matches your skill level, getting the Sparrow 25 is a decision you can feel confident in.

The Sparrow 25 Sewing Machine is a brilliant lightweight sewing machine that rivals much more expensive machines in its sewing capacity.
It’s great for general sewing, light design, embroidery and even small quilting projects. It’s reasonably small, so not ideal for large scale projects or heavy duty sewing but is sturdy nonetheless.
