Sewing From Home was launched in 2016 to provide comprehensive and personal reviews of the best sewing machines on the market.
We also publish tutorials and follow alongs for the sewing projects we love. We’ve had several contributors over the years but our ‘regular’ staff consists of two self-confessed sewing fanatics, Jane and Maria.

Our Mission at SFH
There are a huge number of different machines and brands out there, but not a lot of good information about which machines are best for your personal circumstances.
We want to sort the good from the bad, find out which machines are best for beginners and the more advanced, what works for crafters and quilters, and how the heavy duty machines measure up against industrial models.
You can check our latest Best Sewing Machines guide if you’re in the market for a new model now.
Sewing isn’t just for the housewives of yore who used to sew their husbands’ shirts. Now, sewing machines are used by aspiring fashion designers, quilters, small businesses, large businesses and just generally around the home for mending and other small crafty tasks.
We know that we can’t live without our sewing machines — and there are plenty more of you in the same boat!
So, whether you’re an advanced crafter with an intimate knowledge of bobbins and presser feet, or a beginner newbie who thinks ‘feed dogs’ is nothing more than a item on your to-do list, we’ve got the sewing machine low-down for you.
As well as in depth reviews of the latest and most popular sewing machines, we’ll also be keeping you updated with news from the sewing world, crafting tips for embroidery and quilting, and other tidbits in our sewing blog.
If that sounds like it’s of interest, we’d love you to delve around our archives and to keep our website bookmarked for future use.
Feel free to comment on articles or email us if you have any questions or comments on the world of sewing.
Our qualifications are nothing more than we’re simply sewing fanatics with plenty of experience using and reviewing machines. We love a spot of delicate embroidery, creative quilting, and are even known for wrestling with heavy duty fabrics for garment making (and kids’ Halloween costumes!).
