In addition to providing quality sewing machines, they also sell all kinds of accessories like presser feet, bobbins, needles, dress forms, totes, and sewing machine software.

Singer 7258 Sewing Machine: Features
Anything that makes sewing a little bit easier and less of a multi-tasking nightmare is a huge WIN in our books.
The Singer 7258‘s built-in electronic autopilot allows you to sew without having to use the foot pedal, and allows you to control and adjust the speed of the machine up to its respectable maximum of 750 stitches per minute.
And the stop/start button does exactly what it says on the tin!
Automatic Needle Threader
Another bonus for making life easier is the automatic needle threader.
Threading the needle can be tedious and a hassle when it comes to some machines. Beginners can find it totally puts them off sewing while older hands have had too many bouts of eye strain to turn down a machine that can complete this task automatically.
The automatic needle threader accessible on the Singer 7258 Stylist sewing machine takes the hassle out of threading the needle. The quicker the needle is threaded, the more time you have to focus on your projects.
Top Loading Bobbin System with Clear Cover
The drop-in bobbin system allows for quick and easy bobbin replacement.
Plus, the clear cover lets the user keep a watchful eye on their bobbin so they don’t have to guess when it needs to be swapped out.
Twin Needle Capability and Thirteen Needle Positions
While this machine is definitely suitable for beginners, it remains popular with more experienced sewers as it has so much potential for more adventurous projects.
The twin needle capability, for instance, is perfect for beautiful hems and sleeves, and can also be used in more decorative embroidery projects. Just be aware that the Singer 7258 sewing machine doesn’t come with twin needles so you will need to buy these separately.
It’s also got a stunning 13 different needle positions which means you can truly sew your stitches more or less wherever you want to.
If you want to learn more about how to use different needle positions, check out this handy guide on understanding the positions.
100 Built-In Stitches
The Singer 7258 Stylist Sewing Machine offers 100 preprogrammed stitches for you to choose from, including 7 1-step automatic button holes. This is pretty impressive and very generous considering its mid-market price point.
It also emphasizes how much you can do with this machine, and how useful it can be in a variety of different sewing projects. Not just your everyday sewing needs, but more decorative and hobbyist sewing too — like clothes making, crafting and quilting.
Heavy Duty Metal Frame
The durable metal framework is a feature usually found on more expensive models of sewing machines. The heavy framework keeps the machine still and steady as you’re sewing to ensure the least amount of errors.
Programmable Needle Up/Down
This feature allows the user to program whether you want the needle to rest all the way up or all the way down when you stop sewing. Great for fabric handling and quilting, where you need more room to maneuver.
This function can be switched any time by simply pressing the button. You’ll never have to check the wheel alignment again!
Singer 7258 Review
We think the Singer 7258 Stylist sewing machine is fantastic, but it’s definitely worth probing further into the details to see if it’s the right machine for your needs.
Here’s what we love about the machine…
Easy to Use
The first and most important thing to say about the Singer 7258 is how easy it is to use and get started with.
It has all the bells and whistles to make life easy for you. Here’s what we’re talking about:
- Stop/Start button
- Automatic needle threading
- Built-in thread cutter
- Automatic tension
- Top loading bobbin system
- Speed control and electronic autopilot
- Computerized LCD screen
Ambitious beginners who really want to get their footing in sewing crafts will find that starting up with this machine is a breeze. It comes with a very detailed instruction manual plus a DVD with video tutorials if you’re looking for a little more direction.
Here’s a great, quick video on how to thread the bobbin, for instance:
Similarly, more experienced sewers will love how easy it is to get started on more ambitious projects.
Great for Crafters and Clothes Makers
We love our Singer 7258 for craft sewing, and it’s ideally designed for creating one of a kind garments.
There are 100 built-in stitches available plus 7 automatic 1-step buttonholes. The twin needle capability is ideal for hems and sleeves, while the huge 13 different needle positions allow you to get really creative with this machine.
Plus, the programmable up/down needle gives you the extra space you need to manipulate your fabric around the machine. There’s also a convertible free arm for sleeves.
It Sews Well
Another really important factor to consider before buying a sewing machine is how well does it actually sew.
We’re happy to report that the Singer 7258 is a gem in the sewing quality department.
Not only is it easy to sew with this machine, but you don’t face any problems like jamming or skipping thanks to the sturdy and considered construction.
And it Sews Quietly
For those of us insomniacs who occasionally like rising in the middle of the night for some late late sewing, rest assured that you won’t be waking anybody else up with this machine.
The heavy duty metal frame ensures sewing is stable — none of this dancing across the table from the sheer force of the vibrations!
Other Small Things We Love:
- It looks good
- StayBright LED light is bright and stays cool
- Comes with lots of accessories
- Lots of online support available
- 25 year limited warranty
But, of course, as you might expect with any mid-market sewing machine, there are some compromises to consider when buying the Singer 7258 machine.
Here are the issues we’ve pinpointed which you should know about before you buy.
Thick Material is a Challenge
This machine is not a heavy duty sewing machine and shouldn’t be used as such — you’ll only be asking for trouble.
Multiple layers? No good. Thick denim? Not with the 7258.
Despite all its great uses, the machine can get tripped up by material that is too thick. The machine is meant for projects like hemming, clothing creation, and other crafts; it’s just not made to cut through really thick material.
So, unfortunately, you’ll have to count those projects out.
Limited Stitch Width
One of the more annoying aspects of the Singer 7258 is that for some reason they’ve limited the width of the stitches only up to 5mm.
Most sewing machines at this price point usually go up to 7mm, so this is a little irritating. Especially as there are so many other options to adjust stitches on this machine, it’s a bit dense to restrict the stitch width by so much.
Other Small Areas for Improvement
- You can’t adjust the presser foot pressure
- The power cord isn’t quite long enough for our liking
While we do have a couple of niggles, we honestly think the Singer 7258 Stylist sewing machine is a fabulous machine — ideal for crafters, clothes makers and fashion sewers, and easy to use even for beginners.
There’s a huge amount of potential to do a lot with this machine and it offers a lots of features considering its mid-market price.
If you’re looking for a heavy duty machine or one that’s happy to tackle denim, this isn’t for you. But if you’re happy working on smaller projects and like the opportunity to be adventurous in your sewing crafts then it’s hard to go wrong with the Singer 7258.
