Juki: The Company
Founded in 1938 in Tokyo, Japan, Juki has made sewing machines and other household items for the majority of their existence.
Since then, they’ve branched into sergers, mechanical and computerized sewing machines, and quilting machines. This aligns with their goal to create sewing machines for “every generation of sewer.”
The warranty for all Juki sewing machines and sergers is five years for any mechanical problems, two years for electrical issues, and ninety days for any adjustments regarding issues in the materials or workmanship.
The warranty excludes needles, loopers, knife blades, bulbs, lamps, and belts. The warranty can only be used by the original purchaser of the Juki sewing machine/serger.
It will be voided if the machine is abused or mistreated in any way.
The Juki Serger Sewing Machine includes an upper and lower knife, creating a system that runs on its own dedicated drive.
As such, you receive smooth and consistent cuts on a variety of different fabrics – every time. Whether you’re using lightweight or heavy fabrics, the knives can adjust for your needs.
The upper knife is moveable for both safety and ease of use, while the lower knife can be adjusted for a specific width. You need only turn the dial to alter the fabric’s width, as well as to allow for perfect seams and rolled edges.
This Juki serger includes seven different stitch variations.
These include a thread overlock stitch, thread chain stitch, thread safety stitch, thread flatlock, thread narrow overlock, two thread rolled hemstitches, and a thread overcast stitch.
The Juki Serger Sewing Machine also features a built-in seam guide to help with seam allowances. Just use the guard cover’s gauge – and then begin serging!
Your seam allowances will stay consistent as you progress, preventing wavy or uneven hems. Even better, it ensures the knives cut straight throughout the project, no matter how much fabric is run through the machine.
Automatic Rolled Hemming
This serger also conveniently includes automatic rolled hemming. As such, you need only flip a switch to create rolled hems, without changing the needle plate or foot.
The machine rolls the edge of the fabric over itself twice, so the edge is hidden; no fraying! There are two different modes in this function.
The first rolls the edge over the hem, while the second allows for an overlock stitch to help with durability. No matter your chosen method, the hem is cleaner with little to no effort on your part.
Chain Loop/Color-Coded Threading
While this serger may appear difficult to thread, it’s very straightforward.
Start by pushing the correct button, so the chain looper snaps down. From there, follow the color-coded dots printed on the machine to learn where each thread should go.
There are yellow, red, green, and blue dots. So, for example, if you put the thread through the yellow loop, follow the yellow dots on the machine.
Just note that, when threading the machine, you should start with blue, move to red, then green, and finally go to yellow. It’s pretty foolproof!

Super Easy to Set Up
The set-up and threading of this Juki Serger Sewing Machine are rather easy despite all the knobs and different threads. You may need to consult the instruction manual for your initial few tries, but the colored guide and the clear directions make it a straightforward process.
Altogether, you shouldn’t need more than fifteen minutes or even less with more experience. If you’re making the switch to this Juki serger, you won’t have to worry about fussing and fumbling around.
Simply follow the instructions and guides and you’ll be well on your way, no expert needed. This means you’ll be able to get to crafting sooner than later.
Very Easy to Use
When you have your machine up and running, it doesn’t get any harder to use. Once everything is threaded, adjust the tension dials and the knife system’s width to the measurements you need.
Then, place the fabric under the presser foot, ensure the knife system is aligned, and press the foot pedal. You’re ready to sew!
The learning curve on this Juki serger is a small one ensuring that your projects aren’t slowed down by the likes of a new machine. You’ll find it easy to tackle a variety of projects with this machine, all without hassle.
Speaking of variety, with the number of different stitches and functions, this Juki serger is extremely versatile.
You can choose from seven different stitches (depending on your project), adjust the differential feed, change the tension, and flip and roll the hem.
You can also use a number of different fabrics, including thick, heavy materials. The machine doesn’t get stuck or jammed with denim or wool; you can sew without limits!
This opens up a variety of projects and ideas you can tackle with this machine. It won’t hold back from allowing you to get creative and crafty making this a great Juki to grow with.
Incredibly Compact Design
You won’t have to worry about this machine taking up all the space in your crafting room or your home. It’s incredibly compact, opening up a variety of spaces where you can place your new Juki serger.
If you live in a small apartment or studio this is great news! Weighing in at twenty points, it won’t be too heavy to move around if you need to, and thanks to its compact size, you can easily tuck this away until you’re ready for it.
As a bonus, it even has a carrying handle, making it easily portable. If you need to take this back and forth from work to home, it won’t be too much of a hassle, and should you need to take this to class, it won’t be too cumbersome.
Don’t let its size fool you though, this machine is definitely heavy-duty, still able to tackle heavier materials and fabrics without fuss.
Not for Beginners
If you’re a beginner, this may not be the machine for you. It takes some know-how to thread and making adjustments to the settings can be confusing.
While the instruction manual will help, it’s better if you have the knowledge and skill, so you don’t get frustrated and give up. There are more basic sergers on the market that would better suit a beginner, and it might be better to wait before attempting to use this machine.
However, if you’re determined, it’s possible to master this device with some patience, and it will be a great machine to hone your skills on.
Watch for Manufacturing Faults
Shipping heavy-duty machines can sometimes mean loose parts or pieces arriving differently than advertised. As such, if you’re ordering this online keep an eye out for anything faulty when your sewing machine arrives.
For example, a couple of users had their Juki serger for less than a year before it stopped working. Either a piece inside the machine broke off or the tension stopped working entirely. Other testers had issues with the threads coming loose from the guides. Afterwards, they needed consistent rethreading.
You do have a five-year warranty if you need to address any issues like these; simply call the company for a refund, exchange, or advice on what to do.
