Janome: The Company
Founded in 1921 by Yosaku Osem as The Pine Sewing Machine Factory, Janome didn’t have its current name until 1954.
Currently, Janome has divisions in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Europe, Australia, and many more countries.
Their stated mission is to provide sewing machines and sergers that are easy to use, reliable, and made of quality materials so that their customers are able “to make the most of their creativity.”
The Janome MOD-19 sewing machine comes with a 25-year limited warranty.
The warranty covers any problems you might have with the “materials or workmanship, with the exception of electrical/electronic equipment, which is warranted for a period of two years from the date of original purchase.”
For the first year of owning the machine, you can receive replacements for any parts that are defective and/or any labor free of charge. After the first year, any defective parts can be replaced for free, but you’ll have to pay for labor.
The warranty does not cover anything that occurs due to poor maintenance and repair by you, nor does it cover any damage caused by the “normal wear and tear” that comes with regular use.
Additionally, the warranty only applies to machines that are bought through an Authorized Janome Retailer, so make sure you check before purchasing your new machine.
15 Built-In Stitches
The Janome Blue Couture Sewing Machine comes with 15 stitches included.
All you have to do is turn the dial on the front of the machine. They range from basic to decorative to quilting stitches.
To insert the bobbin, you must first take off the removable compartment from the arm, and then flip down the little door under the needle plate.
‘After you thread your bobbin, you insert it into the metal case and then insert that into the machine.
Most likely, you will be able to access the bobbin while you have fabric under the presser foot. Instructions are also printed on the inside of the door where you insert the bobbin.
Interior Metal Frame
While the outside of this sewing machine is made of blue plastic, the inside is a full-metal frame.
This makes the machine both sturdy and durable, able to last for years!
While the reverse lever is becoming a more common feature on sewing machines, it is still not always a given. This machine, however, does possess it.
Just press down the lever whenever you need it to reverse, and there you have it! This is useful for locking a stitch or strengthening up your current stitches.
Three-Piece Feed Dog System
The Janome Blue Couture also has a three-piece feed dog system, ensuring the fabric goes through the machine more smoothly than if it wasn’t there at all.
Dual Retractable Spool Pins
You also get two spool pins for when you need to switch colors of thread or are just working on a big project and need more than one spool of thread at the ready.
Removeable Free Arm
There is a compartment on the arm of the machine that comes off. This is great when sewing the leg of a pair of pants or a sleeve of a shirt.
You can easily slide the pant leg or sleeve over the arm and sew the hem continuously in one go. It makes a simple job even simpler!
Adjustable Stitch Length and Zigzag Width
You can also easily customize the length of each stitch or the width of each zigzag stitch by turning the dial on the front of the machine (right next to the stitch selection dial).

Fortunately, a number of users mentioned how quiet the Janome Blue Couture Sewing Machine is. It’s great to know you can listen to the radio and get into a relaxing groove as you work on your projects.
It’s not only quiet, but smooth too, so you won’t have to worry about your machine jumping or skipping to cause annoying mistakes.

Problems with the Bobbin
This Janome sewing machine has a front-loading bobbin which can be difficult to insert, not to mention get to if there is a problem.
If the thread jams, you’ll have to stop, possibly remove what you’re sewing from the machine, open the door to the compartment, and then see what’s wrong.
It might also be hard to see depending on how much light is in your sewing area.
No Thread Cutter
Despite all the features on this machine, it does not have a thread cutter, while most machines of this kind do.
This isn’t a major issue, but it’s an overall nice feature that’s lacking, forcing you to keep scissors on hand.
Difficult to Thread
While this machine comes with a number of instructions, there were some users who needed to watch a YouTube video when figuring out how to properly thread it.
If you are brand new to sewing, this could be a frustrating issue.
After considering all the pros and cons of the Janome Blue Couture Easy-to-Use Sewing Machine, we are recommending it.
It has a ton of features and comes with enough instructions to get even a newbie through their first sewing project.
While the bobbin and lack of thread cutter are definitely issues, they do not outweigh the number of positives this machine has.
